Job Description

Position Title: Youth Director (Part-Time - 20 hours/wk)

General Responsibilities: The role of Youth Director involves more than organizing events, it

includes building relationships, fostering a welcoming environment, and helping young people

understand and grow in their faith.

Essential Responsibilities:

● Build Relationships with youth (grades 6th - 12th) for the purpose of providing them with

spiritual encouragement and guidance.

● Create engaging youth programming that is relevant to their lives and helps them

deepen their relationship with Christ and grow in their understanding of the scriptures.

● Be an active presence in the community to identify and bring in additional youth in need

of spiritual support and belonging.

● Encourage and train youth to use their individual gifts to participate actively in the full life

and worship of the church including: reading scripture on Sunday, working in the tech

booth, participating in praise band, participating in service projects, etc.

● Identify when youth need individualized support, counseling or crisis assistance. Extend

support in a compassionate and professional manner and make referrals when warranted.

● Support youth by attending and recognizing personal events in their lives.

● Promote and participate in regional youth events including going with youth to Camp

Christian during the summer (1 or 2 weeks)

● Attend weekly worship services and monthly board meetings.

● Other duties as assigned.

sincere desire to help them grow and the ability to engage in a relatable, fun and caring way.

● Committed to personal spiritual growth - Engage in regular and consistent personal spiritual practices

● Communication Skills - Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills, including the

ability to recruit volunteers and serve as a worship leader

● Organizational Skills - Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and delegate

● Team Work - Ability to collaborate with staff and volunteers to incorporate ideas and

work together to formulate plans and solutions

● Serve as a Role Model - Model through your own words and actions the Christlike

behavior you expect of the youth

● Confidentiality - Ability to maintain confidentiality

Requirements:

● Valid driver’s license and insurability

● Ability to travel for overnight stays including 2 weeks as a summer camp counselor

● Must pass a background check
