CYF is dedicated to nurturing and enriching the faith of our Senior High youth. Students currently in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade are considered a member of CYF. Our Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF) offers an atmosphere of openness and acceptance for High School youth. We provide a source of strength as youth face the challenges of daily life and help nurture their personal relationship with Christ through fellowship, weekly meetings, service, and worship opportunities within a community of believers.

Special opportunities include:

  • Weekly Youth Group meetings
  • CYF Council
  • Senior Youth Lector
  • "Challenge Day" - High Ropes Course
  • CYF Lock-In
  • "Search for the Christ Child"
  • Winter Retreat
  • M&M Tube Fundraiser
  • Youth Sunday & Banquet
  • Regional UN Seminar (bi-annual)

CYF Weekly Youth Group

We meet together at the church in the Youth Room from 7:00 - 8:00 pm every Wednesday night. This is a great opportunity for the youth to take a break mid-week and connect with each other. We take care of youth program business, share joys and concerns, and discuss faith related life issues based on various topics. Discussions are led by the youth leader and occasionally by the youth themselves. ALL YOUTH GRADES 9 - 12 ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!

CYF Council

CYF is led by an adult director and a group of dedicated adult advisors. However, many youth group decisions and leadership comes from our CYF Council. This is made up of two elected youth from each grade along with an elected Boy Co-President and Girl Co-President. This group along with the Youth Director make up the CYF Council.

Senior Youth Lector

On the second Sunday of each month from September through May, a senior is asked to serve as a Youth Lector during our traditional worship service at 11:00 am. The Youth Lector will give the Gathering Prayer, read the scripture for the day, and greet the congregation members as they exit the sanctuary. This is a wonderful faith-based leadership opportunity for graduating seniors to serve their church family and for our congregation to get to know the emerging young leaders within the church.

"CYF Lock-In"

The annual Lock-In takes place at the church from Friday night through Saturday morning. The youth participate in small group discussions based on a chosen theme, play games, have a youth led midnight worship service, watch movies, and spend time bonding as a group.

"Search for the Christ Child"

"The Search" is presented by our youth, helped by adult volunteers.

This event is held on the first Sunday of December 5:00  - 8:00 pm each year. It is free and open to the public and hundreds typically attend. Guests enjoy hot chocolate and cookies in the "Camelback Inn," while anticipating their journey in search of the Baby Jesus. Along the way you will encounter shepherds, wise men, inn keepers, angels, and have a confrontation with King Herod. Your search comes to a dramatic closure with the discovery of Mary, Joseph, and the Baby Jesus in a stable in Bethlehem.

The "Search" takes approximately 1 hour from the time of your arrival to the church. Those attending are invited to bring gifts of food for the Salvation Army or monetary donations to be given to Wadsworth FISH. Please join us this year and experience the true meaning of Christmas. Please call the church with any questions: 330-336-6697.

Winter Retreat

On a Saturday - Sunday in January, the youth group goes to Loyola Retreat House in Clinton, OH for our annual Winter Retreat. This is a very special time for just our group to get away together. We have a theme for the weekend on which we focus our small group discussions, vesper service, worship service, meals, and singing. This event is a life-changing opportunity for our youth to explore, grow, and even discover a deeper relationship with God and each other.

Fundraisers

M&M Tube Collection - Proceeds from this fund-raiser go toward SCOOP (Special Concerns Ohio Outreach Project) and D.I.G (Dividends in Growth) in support of Camp Christian.

Youth Sunday & Banquet

On the first Sunday of May, our combined worship service is handed over to the youth of our church. This service is based on our youth theme for the year and includes readings, scriptures, skits, music, and mini-sermons given by the graduating seniors. It is an inspiring and faith-filled service that you won’t want to miss!

Following Youth Sunday, the youth and their families head down to our Fellowship Hall for our annual end-of-the-year Youth Banquet. We enjoy great food, recap our youth year, thank our adult advisors and Sunday School teachers, and recognize our graduating seniors. We also announce the newly elected CYF Council for the next year. The day is concluded up in the sanctuary with a slide show of our year and childhood photos of the seniors and a closing circle.

CYF Week at Camp Christian

This special week at Camp Christian in Magnetic Springs, Ohio is often referred to as "a week that changes lives." This week is an amazing experience that any Christian youth would not want to miss!
